VIDEO OF INTOXICATED YOUTH GOES VIRAL IN ABOHAR FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAY

GOVT’S CLAIMS OF ERADICATING DRUG ABUSE PROVE HOLLOW

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

The Punjab government’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” appears to be failing in Abohar, as videos of suspected drug users lying unconscious on the streets frequently go viral. Videos of three such individuals have surfaced in the last three days alone. Witnessing these scenes has sparked public anger against the government. Although the police have apprehended many drug peddlers, the menace remains unchecked.

According to reports, a young man was found unconscious and completely disoriented reportedly due to intoxication in broad daylight near Agrasen Chowk, which is under constant police surveillance. Locals alerted the ‘Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti’ and the ‘112’ police emergency team. Police personnel arrived at the scene and, with the Samiti activist Bittu Narula, helped to take the victim to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

Sunny Watts, a councillor, also arrived at the spot and expressed concern over the escalating drug problem in the city. Watts remarked that while drug users were previously found mostly in the city’s outskirts, they are now being found lying unconscious in busy markets. He stated that the government’s claims of eradicating the drug menace are proving to be completely false and urged the police administration to crack down strictly on drug peddlers.

Police said that the young man appears to be addicted to drugs; efforts are underway to locate his family.
