PUNJAB TO SETUP NRI SABHA IN EACH DISTRICT TO FACILITATE NRIs

Punjab government was fully committed to safeguard the rights and interests of NRIs that’s why NRIs police stations, special revenue courts, fast track courts, NRI Sammelan and media campaigns were being adopted. He said that a special web portal for NRIs has been launched so that NRIs can track their application along with getting current status of that. 

The Punjab Government would soon setup NRI Sabha in each district of the state for the facilitation of NRIs besides giving them necessary information regarding their issues relating to Punjab Government. Disclosing this here today an Official spokesperson said that Punjab was contemplating to form such bodies in each district with a view to safeguard rights of NRIs and making them aware about the exclusive policies and programs for non-resident Punjabis. He said that Minister for NRI Affairs Mr. Tota Singh has given nod in this regard and the proceedings would initiate soon to setup NRI Sabhas at district level. He said that Minister was also keen to resolve the pendency of cases/issues pertaining to NRIs in minimum time. He said Instructions in this regard have been issued to all Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, IG NRI Affairs, Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police so the NRIs could not have to face harassment.   Giving details of units to be setup at district level, the spokesperson said the staff of NRI Sabha in each district would provide necessary information to nonresident Punjabis. He said that there were 11 exclusive NRIs Police Station have been setup in the state to ensure speedy and time-bound redressal of their issues. He said Punjab government was fully committed to safeguard the rights and interests of NRIs that’s why NRIs police stations, special revenue courts, fast track courts, NRI Sammelan and media campaigns were being adopted. He said that a special web portal for NRIs has been launched so that NRIs can track their application along with getting current status of that.   The spokesperson said that Minister has also issued strict instructions to resolve the cases of NRIs well in time and laxity in these cases would not be tolerated.
