NRI Jatinder Singh (49) who came from California (USA) was murdered by an Auto Driver near prestigious Elante Mall, while his son Rockey (24) was injured on Thursday night. After receiving the information Chandigarh Police swung into action and arrested the Shaved alias Irshad s/o Sh. Mohd. Jilfikar, Jhuggi no. 24, Block-I, Colony No. 4, Industrial Area phase 1, who drives an Auto Rickshaw No. CH-19-T-2936 as being involved in the incident. He was produced before the District Court  in Sector 43 and remanded to two days custody.  The investigation is going on. According to Police spokesman a call was received at the Police Control Room during late night hours of 29.01.15 stating that there is a quarrel outside Elante Mall, near gate No. 5 in Industrial Area phase 1. 

NRI Jatinder had come to India for settled down his old property dispute of his agriculture lands worth around Rs 19 crore  in Phagwara in Kapurthala district.   Police have handed over the dead body of Jatinder Singh after conducting postmortem to the deceased family. According to cousin of  deceased Mr. Harnek Singh, the NRI father and son was  living in ALTIUS Hotel in same locality and came to sort out property dispute.

The injured persons namely Mr. Harak Singh/Jitender Singh s/o Late Sh. Bagicha Singh R/o 8321 Horncastle Ave, Roseville, California, and Rocky/Rourke S/o Harak Singh/Jitender Singh r/o same as above, were rushed to Govt. Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, where the duty doctors declared Harak Singh alias Jatinder Singh brought dead. A case, FIR No. 36 dated 30.01.15 u/s 302 and 307 IPC, PS-Industrial Area, Chandigarh, was registered regarding the incident. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the incident, special teams headed by Insp. Jaspal Singh, SHO, P.S. Industrial Area, were put into action to identify and apprehend the assailant/s. It was learnt that driver of Auto No. CH19-T-2936 namely Irshad was quarrelling with two persons who were talking in English. During this heated exchange the auto driver took a Danda from his auto and attacked upon them continuously on their head and other body parts. Due to this they sustained injuries and one of them fell down on the road. When they raised alarm the alleged fled away from the spot along with his Auto Rickshaw. The PCR vehicles rushed to them GMCH Sec-32 for treatment.  Police have recovered blunt weapon from his possession. Reliable sources said that when when the incident took place NRI father and son were drunk and came out from the mall after having dinner around 12.10 A.M. Preliminary investigation revealed that the NRIs had insisted the auto driver to drop them but when auto driver refused, they abused him. When the father and son marched forward Javed (19), the auto driver attacked them from the rear side with a stick.  He hit father and son about half a dozen times."Jatinder, who originally hails from district Kapurthala in Punjab, was declared brought dead at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. Rocky received head injuries and discharged after the preliminary treatment from the hospital. The assailant, Javed, had left the spot and the registration number of his auto was noted down by some of the eyewitnesses.
