Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police has succeeded in arresting a vehicle lifter gang namely Bunty Kumar s/o Kashi Nath r/o House No.207, Village Hallo Majra, Chandigarh and Shanky s/o Bahadur r/o House No.490, Ram Darbar, Phase-I, Chandigarh by recovering 07 vehicles (two wheelers) from their possession. On 12.07.2016, on a tip-off, a team of Crime Branch laid a naka near T-Point, dividing road, Sector-44/45, Chandigarh and apprehended accused Bunti and Shanky while they were riding on a stolen motorcycle No.HR-03-R-9248, make Splendor which was found to be stolen by them from Motor Market, Mani Majra, UT/Chandigarh. Both the accused persons were produced before the Hon’ble Court on 14.07.2016 and obtained 02 days police remand. During interrogation, they disclosed that they have stolen many two wheelers vehicle from the different parts of Chandigarh. Upon this disclosure statement, more six stolen vehicles were recovered at their instance. With the arrest of the above said accused following five cases of vehicle theft have been worked out:-

Modus Operandi: Accused Banty is originally resident of Bihar and accused Shanky belongs to Punjab and presently they are residing in the area of UT/Chandigarh. Accused Shanky is drug addict and doing the work of Denting & Painting in Motor Market, Sector-48, Chandigarh. Accused Bunty Kumar is working as a labourer in a factory at Ludhiana, Punjab. Bunty used to come at Chandigarh on weekly basis and by joining Shanky, they lifted the vehicles (two wheelers) during night hours and after stealing the vehicle they roamed in the hill and nearby for enjoyment with their girl friends. After rejoice, they left the two wheelers abandoned in big parking lots.
