THREE MILLION DOLLAR GURDWARA BUILDING PROJECT LAUNCHED IN FISHERS, INDIANA

On the auspicious occasion of 253rd birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Sikh Community here on Sunday launched a $ 3 million Gurdwara project (Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar) on the existing propery in Fishers. Plans are in the works to replace the current building with a new Sikh Gurdwara.

 
 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Sikhs Political Action Committee founder and chairman, Gurinder Singh Khalsa said that "Community members and management committee are tirelessly working on this project for a long time. Our Sikh community is growing in Fishers and Noblesville. In just the past decade, we have grown from five families to more than 500 families. The new proposed new building project will meet the needs of the growth."

Groundbreaking for the new gurdwara building will take place in summer with the intent to complete the project within six months.

Speaking on the occasion, Sikhs Political Action Committee founder and chairman, Gurinder Singh Khalsa said that "Community members and management committee are tirelessly working on this project for a long time. "Our gurdwara is open to everyone in the community, said Gurinder. "Presently we serve community meals every Sunday from 10 a.m to 2 p.m We also uitilise a clothing and food bank for those in need." Fishers City Mayor Scott Fadness was the chief guest. He was extended a warm and affectionate welcome by the members of the Sikh community. Despite snow all over, a large number of devotees turned up to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, who was born in Patna (Bihar, India) on January 5, 1666.

Mayor Scott Fadness was honored by presenting him a memento by the Sikh Community members. The Mayor complimented Gurinder Singh Khalsa, an entrepreneur and vocal leader of the Sikh community. "The Sikh community braces everyone and Gurinder and all you have educated me for the values the Sikh community stands."

Mayor Scott made a heartwarming announcement that more members of the Sikh community would be involved in further development of Fishers. It may be recalled that last year Mayor Schoot had appointed Gurinder Singh Khalsa on the Fishers Town Building Corp. as board director and vice president. The Mayor announced added another feather in Gurinder's cap by appointing him on the Planning Committee of Fishers City.

Ambala (Haryana) born Gurinder Singh said "Today we celebrated sharing traditions and the plans to break ground on a new development in the great city of Fishers. Much gratitude to Mayor @scottfaddness , @fisherspolicedepartment and @noblesvillegop for their presence." He also thanked Thank Troy Fettinger and Dama Catherine for joining the Sikh Community.

Preet Kanwal Singh Dhillon, Amrik Singh Duggal, Rash Pal, Gurinder Singh Khalsa, , Sanjeev Singh, Dr Pritam Singh Sukhija, Mohinderjeet Singh, Malkiat Singh, Sarpreet Singh Otal, Sant Singh, Jagpal Singh Otal, Jaswant Singh Banwait, Narinder Singh Kang, Jagdeep Singh, Sandeep Singh, Paramjit Singh Sandhu, Charan Singh Malhi, Dr Bijender Singh and Paramjit Singh Toor were among the prominent Sikh community members who were present on the occasion.
