DESPITE RAIN INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF INDIANPOLIS HOLI MELA WAS A BIG HIT

The four-hour thrilling function was divided into to parts. The first part was devoted to cultural activities, based on Indian folk dances and performance on Bollywood songs. The second portion was studded with throwing of colors as it is a festival of colors. The participants fully enjoyed both functions. Music was by DJ Desi Fusion Ent. Tandoor & Tikka was the food vendor.

Despite rain, a large number of Indian Americans and other community members turned up at the Holi celebrations organised by India Association of Indianapolis at Fay Biccard Glick Neighborthood Center, 2990 W 71st Street, Indianapolis, here on Sunday.

The four-hour thrilling function was divided into to parts. The first part was devoted to cultural activities, based on Indian folk dances and performance on Bollywood songs. The second portion was studded with throwing of colors as it is a festival of colors. The participants fully enjoyed both functions. Music was by DJ Desi Fusion Ent. Tandoor & Tikka was the food vendor.

The programme commenced with National Anthems of USA and India by IAI Youth Committee and Youth Volunteers. Welcome address was done by India Association of Indianapolis chairman Ramu Chinthala and president Shanti Karthik. All executive members of the IAI were introduced to the audience.

Young Prachi Pandya and Om Pandya sang Mahatma Gandhi's loved Bhajan "Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram..." It was coordinated by Pooja Pandya. Dance on songes Navari Mji and Chogda Tara were sung by Puja Pandya, Deepali Songirkar, Asmita Patel.

It was followed by Bollywood dance by Merissa McCloud to the song 'Jado ki Jappi. It was choreographed by Merissa McCloud herself. choreographed by Vrinda Sunil of Natyalaya School of Dance, Prachi Pandya, Anvita, Kinjal and Krishna presented Bharatnatyam dance. Sreya Kumar, Vishnu and Chhavi participated in Raas Leela, choreographed by Sujitha Jithesh. Semi Classical Fusion of Bharatnatyam and Hip Hop, choreographed and prsented by Rithanya Gunasekhar.

Amitha Sharma, Chitra Sunil, Pallevi Pillai, Shreya Panicker and Vani Sharma presented Bollywood dance, choreographed by Shreya Panicker.

Choreographer Jenny Bhuptakar of Bollywood Beats, who recently organised dazzling '2019 Jashn' then presented Desi Dhamaka (Vedika and Krishna), Phatakas (Supriya Singh, Jasmine Singh, Anusha Guda, Simran Brar and Samreen Khondker) and Desi Diva (Riya Patel, Vashmeet, Dhumlhar, Isha Tandon, Sai Shinde and Carina Oza) Audience throughly enjoyed the performance.

National American Kids were presented to the audience. Prameela, Swetha, Nisha, Priyanka, Nabha and Pooja Garg danced on Rajasthani Holi song. It was choregraphed by Swetha. IAI vice-president Ravi Sajja thanked everyone present on the occasion. It was followed by throwing of non-ellergic colors inside the hall since it was raining today.

Rajan Arora, Chandra Sekhar Alokam, Abhinav Singh, Shanti Karthik, Lakshya Arora, Ramu Chinthala, Shash Goyal, Prathibha Ravindra, Biryani Hut Indy, Ravi Sajja, Bharat Patel, Sivakumar Vavilala, Poonam Singh, Prachi B Chatterjee, Pallavi Belamkar, Chandrashekhar Krishnamaneni, Suresh Bhardwaj, Raju Chinthala, Rimple Bahl Patwardhan, Bindu Nair, Yagnesh Patel, Sravan Patharla, Venkata Nagesh Tadikonda, Anil Jain, Ajay Ponugoti, Sumeeta Bhatia and Smitha Thomas are members of the IAI Committee. Anjalli Pillai and Yukthika Sajja were masters of ceremonies.
