MAHAR REGIMENT CELEBRATES ITS 78th RAISING DAY

The Mahar Regiment Chandigarh chapter (Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula) veterans has celebrated its 78th Raising Day here at Defence Services Officers Institute. 

The Regiment celebrated its Platinum Jubilee in Nov' 2017 at Saugor (MP), Veterans from Panchkula, Mohali and Delhi also graced the occasion. 

Lt Col K S Mangat, 93 years, was the senior most who attended the function and performed the Cake cutting ceremony. This is the second time a Raising Day function of the regiment was organised in Chandigarh. 

The Mahar Regiment, raised on 01st October 1941 at Belgaum, has served the reputed Indian Army and our great Nation for 78 years. During this period,it participated in the Second World War and all major wars that India was challenged with after independence. It was also involved in several United Nations and other Peace Keeping Operations,Counter Insurgency and Anti Militancy Operations.

During these operations it has won many Battle Honours , Theatre Honours and gallantry awards including Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra.

War veterans,Vir Naris and children of martyred soldiers were remembered and homage paid.
