TRIALS FOR SELECTION OF INDIAN KABADDI TEAM HELD

"The Punjab Government would leave no stone unturned to bolster the Sports infrastructure in the State besides organizing tournaments of repute to make the State a sports powerhouse. It is in this regard and as per the directions and guidance of the Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi that trials for the selection of Indian Kabaddi Team to participate in the International Kabaddi Cup to be organized from 1st to 10th December 2019, were held today at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium , Jalandhar. The International Kabaddi Cup would be held on the eve of 550th Prakash Purb of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji."   

Disclosing this here today, the Deputy Director Sports Department Mr. Kartar Singh Sehamby said that the International Kabaddi Cup will be inaugurated at Sultanpur Lodhi, District Kapurthala on 1st December 2019. On 3rd December matches will be played at Guru Nanak Stadium Amritsar. The venue for 4th December will be at Shri Guru Har Sahai Stadium Ferozpur, the matches of 5th December will be played at Sports Stadium Bathinda, the matches of 6th December will be played at Polo Ground Patiala. The Semi Finals will be played at Sri Anandpur Sahib on 8th December 2019 and Closing ceremony will be held on 10th December at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium in Dera Baba Nanak (District Gurdaspur).  

Mr. Kartar Singh further added that the participating teams for the International Kabaddi Cup will be  India, Pakistan, England, America, Canada, Sri Lanka, Kenya, New Zealand and Australia. 

He also elaborated that the trials were conducted in very smooth and fair manner under the selection committee constituted by Department of Sports Punjab. During trials the arrangements like security, medical and cleaning of stadium were made by the Department of Sports Punjab.  

He also divulged that the selection committee comprised of Tajinder Singh Middu Khera Chairman, Kartar Singh Sehamby Deputy Director Sports Punjab, Hardeep Singh Arjuna Awardee, Gurpreet Singh District Sports Officer Jalandhar, Harpreet Singh Baba, Amanpreet Singh Malhi and Gurpreet Singh Kabaddi Coach Patiala.
