November 26, 2019 07:38 PM

“COMEDY IS WHAT ATTRACTED ME TOWARDS THIS ROLE”, SAYS RAKHI VIJAN AS SIMRAN KOHLI IN SONY SAB’S TERA KYA HOGA ALIA

?How does it feel to be associated with Sony SAB’s Tera Kya Hoga Alia?

-It is fantastic to be a part of the Tera Kya Hoga Alia family and I’m having a great time. The role, too is really different as it’s not out & out a comedy character. It’s got different emotions and it fits well in this situational comedy. Comedy is something I have always loved doing.

· Please tell us about your character Simran Kohli.

Simran Kohli is a high class woman and usually fails to understand poverty. She is from a rich background but her step daughter, Tara is in a situation where she is living in a Tier 2 city. Simran is making several attempts to bond with Tara hence is also trying to adjust in the ‘low class’ setting. In this attempt, the surroundings are haunting her and that situation is very funny for the viewers. This character has brought so much more masala to the show.

· What made you accept this role? What is it that you consider before taking up any role?

The character of Simran and the fact that it involves comedy is what attracted me towards accepting this role. While considering any role, things I give utmost importance to are the production house, the team and what modulation I can bring into the character. If you have a great team to work with and people know their job perfectly, it makes your work also easier and more comfortable. In terms of a role, I love doing comedy roles and it is actually my forte.

· When you are not shooting, what do you like to do?

Whenever I am not at work, I spend a lot of time with my friend Preeti and with my mother. Also, I am a shopaholic and love shopping. I have to go and buy something somewhere and only then I feel satisfied. It gives me the feeling that I am touching reality.

· How has the experience been shooting with the entire cast of Tera Kya Hoga Alia so far?

It’s been lovely. Although I haven’t been shooting with the entire cast, most of my scenes are with the teachers and both the mothers (Smita Singh and Jhumma Mitra). I really enjoy doing my scenes with them, especially with Smita Singh and Jhumma Mitra as they have got an amazing comic timing and they are really funny. The cast of Tera Kya Hoga consists of very happy and talented people and I have been enjoying my time here thoroughly.

· How is it to be an on-screen mother, since you haven’t played this role previously?

I am always open to playing different characters and as an actor, we have to be able to get into the skin of any kind of character. I have been lucky enough to be able to play all different kind of characters ever since the beginning of my career, from Sweety (in Hum Paanch) to Simran Kohli (in Tera Kya Hoga Aila).

Watch Rakhi Vijan spread her magic in Tera Kya Hoga Alia, Monday to Friday at 10 PM only on Sony SAB
