SUNRISE JUNIOR RANKING BADMINTON: ONE THOUSAND TO PARTICIPATE

The Chandigarh Badminton Association will host the Yonex Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament (U-19) from January 10 to 15 at the Sector 38 Sports Complex, according to organising secretary Surinder Mahajan.

As many as 1,000 junior players along with their coaches /managers from different parts of India will take part in this five-day championship. Top international players, including Junior Asian Games gold medallist, Aditi Bhatt, Shruti Mishra, Trisha Jolly, Rohan Gurbani, Ravi Gagan, Mayank, Jayant Rana, Aryan Hooda, Anupma Upadhyay, Rizul Saini, Pankaj Malik, Samarveer, will take part in this prestigious championship to be organised under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India. Also as many as 40 players from Chandigarh will also take part in this championship.

The qualifying matches of this championship will be organised from January 10 to 11, followed by main draw matches from January 12.

Meanwhile, Member Parliament and Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur will be the Chief Guest on the opening ceremony of the tournament. He will inaugurate the championship on January 12 along with Guest of Honour Gian Chand Gupta, Speaker Haryana Vidhan Sabha and other officials of Chandigarh Badminton Association and Badminton Association of India. 

This is among one of the major tournaments of the nation as the top performers of this meet will be eligible to get selected among the probable’s squad of the Indian Junior Badminton Team (U-19), which will participate in the forthcoming Dutch and German Open Tournament. 

Over 30 technical qualified officials from all over India will supervise the championship. For the first time in the history of Chandigarh, live scoring will be provided to all. All the arrangements have been made and the UT Sports Department is also extending their help.
