CRA WITH TRAFFIC POLICE AND NURSING INSTITUTE OF PGIMER ORGANISED AWARENESS WORKSHOP

Chandigarh Rowing Association (CRA) with Chandigarh Taffic police and NSS a unit of National Institute of Nursing Education PGIMER organized a traffic awareness workshop at NINE auditorium PGIMER sector 12, Chandigarh and road safety awareness rally and staged a Nùkkar Natak on road safety at Sukhna Lake on Thursday during the 31st National Road Safety Week 2020. Shri Shashank Anand IPS SSP Security & Traffic was the Chief Guest.

 
 
 
 
Meanwhile as part of 31st National  Road  Safety  Week  2020, a workshop on Road safety and Traffic Awareness was conducted at GGDSD College Chandigarh. Chief Guest at the event was Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP, Traffic & Security.  Other guests of honour were WG CDR C.S. Grewal (Retd.) Chief Traffic Marshall, Sh. Charanjit Singh Virk, DSP, Chandigarh Traffic Police ,  Sh. Neeraj Sarna, Inspector, Mrs. Uma Mahajan, Traffic Marshal. 

Traffic awareness workshop was conducted at National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) PGIMER Sector 12 Chd. A total of aprox. 350 students and 8 Faculty members were educated. Dr. Karobi Dass Principal NINE along with Dr. Sunita Sharma, Ms. Meenakshi Agnihotri, Ms. Shabana Parveen, Dr. Ashok and Traffic Marshals Advocate Rajiv Sharma & Ms. Yashoda Dobhal spoke on Road Safety. Shri Jaswinder Singh DSP was the guest of honor. A Road Safety skit and Gidha was also performed by the students. 

Sh. Shashank Anand guided the students about traffic rules; road safety and how unknown variables on road must be avoided by own self and not wait for others to be correct. He also guided how pedestrians should be alert on road to prevent chain snatching and kidnapping. ASI Bhupinder Singh enthralled the students by singing songs on awareness of traffic rules and regulations.  

There were around 200 students of the college who attended the workshop.  WG CDR Grewal appraised the students of the rules and regulations pertaining to Driving License and seat belt, Road signs and drunken driving. More emphasis was laid on educating students at the college level as they are the major road users. A quiz contest was held at the end where the students answered questions correctly and were given mementos by the team of Chandigarh Traffic Police. Dr. Balraj Thapar, principal of the college, along with NSS P.O.s Dr. Mani Parti and Dr. Mahak Sharma gave a floral welcome to the guests and thanked them for conducting such a wonderful interactive session.

Apart from above, a traffic awareness rally cum Nukkad Natak was conducted at Sukhna Lake to aware importance of road safety among general public. Students and 8 Faculty member from PGIMER sensitized general public. Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP Security & Traffic was the Chief Guest at the function. Shri Jaswinder Singh, DSP, Shri Kewal Krishan, DSP, Shri Charanjit Singh, DSP was the guest of honor. 

A helmet rally on two wheelers to motivate girls for wearing safety helmets was flagged off by Smt. Raj Bala, Mayor, UT, Chandigarh from CTP, Sector 23, Chandigarh which moved towards sector 24, PU campus, PGI Chowk, Matka Chowk, Cricket Stadium Chowk and finished at CTP, Sector 23, Chandigarh. Approx. 250 students from GCG-42, Dev Samaj College-36, Govt. Commerce College-50 participated in this rally. Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP Security & Traffic, Shri Jaswinder Singh, DSP, Shri Kewal Krishan, DSP, Shri Charanjit Singh, DSP along with CTP staff, Traffic Marshalls Salil Bali, Vishal Kapoor & Gurnam Singh were present on occasion. Divyang from Rotary Club also participated in this rally to aware the public.

 Chandigarh Traffic Police also organized a workshop/Training on First Aid in Lecture Hall, RTC, Police Lines, Sector-26 Chandigarh for Traffic and PCR Police personnel being first respondents on city roads. Faculty of Police Hospital imparted training on First Aid to be provided before medical aid i.e during bleeding, fracture, snake bite and CPR etc. 20 PCR and 20 Traffic Police Officials including 35 trainees of upper school course attended the First Aid Training in Lecture Hall, Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh.
