SIKH FOOTBALL CUP: KHALSA FC GURDASPUR AND KHALSA FC JALANDHAR ENTERS IN FINAL

The Khalsa Football Club Gurdaspur and Khalsa Football Club Jalandhar have entered in the final of 1st Sikh Football Cup being organised by Khalsa Football Club (Khalsa FC) in collaboration with the Global Sikh Sports Federation. The semi-final matches were held today here at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar where both teams had defeated their rivals. Now, the winning teams would lock their horns in the final to be held in sector 42 Stadium, Chandigarh on February 8 at 11 am.

Disclosing this here today the Secretary General of Khalsa FC and Director Sports Dr. Pritam Singh said the semi-final matches were inaugurated by Sant Baba Satpal Singh Kahri-Sahri and Sant Baba Dilavar Singh Brahmji accompanied by Vice Chancellor Dr. Jatinder Singh Bal, the President Khalsa FC Harjit Singh Grewal and President American Sikh Council Kirpal Singh Nijjer.

At the very outset of the matches, Sant Baba Satpal Singh Kahri-Sahri recited the path of Mool-Mantar five time to the audience besides performed ‘Ardas’ for the ‘Chardikala’ of this tourney. Gatka players exhibited the feats of Sikh Martial Art Gatka.

While speaking on the occasion Sant Baba Satpal Singh Kahri Sahri and Sant Baba Dilavar Singh Brahmji lauded the stupendous efforts made by Khalsa FC to hold this tournament exclusively for Saabat-Soorat players, which would go a long way in weaning away youngsters from drugs vis-à-vis connecting them with Sikh heritage, promoting Sikh identity besides inculcating the spirit of sports amongst them.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Bal said it was call of the day to motivate Saabat-Soorat youngsters towards sports, for which the organisers of this Club were considered deserving high applause. He called upon all Sikh players playing in other sports to take inspiration from this tournament and participate in their respective games according as Saabat-Soorat players.

Football promoter Grewal apprised the gathering that all the participating teams were playing matches as per the norms of FIFA based on knockout matches. Giving details of results he informed that the Khalsa FC Gurdaspur and Khalsa FC Jalandhar had drubbed Khalsa FC Barnala and Khalsa FC RoopNagar respectively. The Gurdaspur team won the match by 2-0 while the Jalandhar team secured the victory in penalty kicks by the margin of 4-3.

Prominent amongst those present included Secretary Hardaman Singh Sadhu Singh Nijjer, Manpreet Singh Gharial, Secretary Khalsa FC Prof. Parampreet, Principal Ranjit Singh, Jeet Singh Italy, Retd. Principal Jagmohan Singh, Prof. Amarjit Singh, Prof. Sarbjit Singh, Dr. R.S. Pathania, Dr. Mahi, Tamanna Kiran, Manjit Kaur, Pranam Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Vijay Kumar, Gatka Coach Sachnam Singh and Vijay Pratap Singh. Apart from these spectators were present in large number.

Dr. Pritam Singh further informed that the final of this historic Sikh Football Cup would be held at Sector 42 Stadium Chandigarh on February 8 at 11 am where Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh ji would bless the saabat-soorat players as well as give away prizes to the winners. Several eminent personalities of Sikh Panth and senior officers would also grace the occasion.
