DELHI TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY SIGNS MOU WITH CSIO

Delhi Technological University (DTU) on Tuesday  signed MoU with Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) at CSIO, Chandigarh. This MoU will facilitate exchange of Staff and Students towards co-supervision of Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D. theses, participation in research thus promoting interaction among the scientists, professors and research scholars of the DTU. Further this will help in pursuing joint research programs including externally funded schemes and Consultancy activities etc. 

Scope of MoU also involves sharing of expertise, domain knowledge and available facilities in mutually agreed research areas (viz. Physics, Photonics, Optics, Chemistry, Biomedical, Material science and engineering, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Electronics, Computation, Mechanical Engineering and any other areas of common interest in science and engineering) for research and development.

Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), a constituent unit of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), is a premier national laboratory dedicated to research, design and development of scientific and industrial instruments. It is a multi-disciplinary and multi-dimensional apex industrial research & development organisation in the country to stimulate growth of Instrument Industry in India covering wide range and applications. CSIO is manned by highly qualified and well trained staff with infrastructural facilities in the areas of Agrionics; Biomedical Instrumentation and prosthetics; Optics and Cockpit based Instrumentation; Fiber/Laser Optics based Sensors & Instrumentation; Analytical Instrumentation; Advanced Materials based Transducers etc. CSIO has contributed substantially towards the growth of the scientific instruments industry in the country.

Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is a premier public university located in New Delhi, India. It is Delhi's first Engineering college and among those few engineering colleges of India which were set up before independence under the control of the Government of India. DTU offers courses towards Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) and contains fourteen academic departments.

Dr. Surender Saini, head BIPP, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh signed the MoU on behalf of CSIO and Prof. Shamsher, Registrar signed the MoU on behalf of Delhi Technological University.

Prof. R. K. Sinha said that the aim for signing of MoU with DTU is to support of academic partnerships which include research collaboration, the exchange of faculty, researchers, students, publications, academic programs and collaborative research projects. This collaboration plays an important role in building a globally competent academic and research system to further fostering advancement in teaching, learning and research.

Prof. Shamsher, Registrar, Delhi Technological University while signing the MoU said that not only the students of DTU will gain from this initiative but it will also help the faculty. He said that at present number of highly specialised equipment for laboratories of DTU is being imported and now with collaboration of CSIO it will be possible to make it in India.
