PROFESSOR INDU PAL KAUR IS UIPS CHAIRPERSON

Professor Indu Pal Kaur joined as the Chairperson of the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, for a term of three years w.e.f. 1 June 2020.

Prof. Indu Pal Kaur, the former Director of the SAIF/CIL/UCIM, and an active researcher at PU, has an expertise in a vital area of research i.e. ‘improvement of bioprofile of therapeutic drugs and molecules using nanoparticle technology’.

Last year she transferred three of the technologies developed in her lab to the Industry. She has been granted four Indian and one US patents and has filed 22 patents in the past 10 years.

Prof Kaur was also awarded US-Fulbright Professional Excellence Fellowship (FNAPE)’ under which she was a visiting faculty at Rutgers State University, New Jersey for 6 months from November, 2017- May, 2018. She was bestowed upon the Women Scientist Award 2018 by OPPI and One Best Researcher Award from Sunpure extracts in 2019. These awards are the true appreciation of her persistent efforts and sustained enthusiasm for the betterment of Pharmaceutical Sciences in particular, and Science in general!

She has produced one Post-doctoral fellow, 23 PhDs and 55 postgraduates and is presently guiding 4 PhD scholars. She has received funding to the tune of 723 Lakh INR from Government agencies and has a couple of Industrial consultancies amounting to 153 lakh INR. She has served as a consultant and coordinated with more than 10 Pharmaceutical Companies. She has collaborations with scientists across the globe; recently she and her collaborators received research funding from Sing Health Fund-Foundation, Singapore on an ocular delivery project.

Her research work has funded twice (2017 and 2020) by DST and Science and Technology Facilities Council, ISIS, UK for SANS characterization at ISIS facility – Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK. She has also been graced with BRIC Technology Exposition Award for consecutive 2 years i.e. 2019 and 2020.
