Haryana Jail Department will be recruiting ex-servicemen or retired personnel of Central Armed Police Force as Volunteer Jail Warders on 699 posts. The appointment will be done on contract basis for a period of one year.

Sharing more information in this regard, an official spokesman of the Department said that 30 Volunteer Jail Warder will be recruited in Central Jail Ambala, 97 in Central Jail-1, Hisar, five in Central Jail-2, Hisar, 12 in District Jail Bhiwani, 82 in District Jail Faridabad, 83 in  District Jail Gurugram and three in District Jail Jhajjar.

However, 27 Volunteer Jail Warders will be recruited in District Jail Jind, 11 in District Jail Kaithal, 117 in District Jail Karnal, 9 in District Jail Kurukshetra, 16 in District Jail Narnaul, one in District Jail Palwal, 47 in District Jail Panipat, 118 in District Jail Rewari, five in District Jail Rohtak, seven in District Jail Sirsa, four in District Jail Sonipat and 27 in District Jail Yamunanagar.

He said that for this post, only those ex-servicemen of the Indian Army or retired personnel of the Central Armed Police Force, aged between 25 and 50 years can apply provided they have not been suspended from service on disciplinary, misconduct or medical grounds. These volunteer Jail Warders will be recruited on contract basis for a period of one year only or the date of joining of regular candidates, whichever is earlier, at a monthly honorarium of Rs. 18,000. This amount will be deposited in their bank accounts only. The honorarium would not be paid in cash. At the time of recruitment, they will be given a lump sum amount of Rs. 3,000 for purchasing 2 pair of uniforms, one pair of shoes and other essential items related to the uniform. 

He informed that these Jail Warders will be provided an amount of Rs. 150 per day as travel allowance or daily allowance for government tour and casual leave as applicable to Jail Warders of Haryana Jail Department. There will be no written examination and physical test at the time of recruitment. But the candidate should have served at least 5 years in the army or armed police force. He should have also received a medical 'A' category certificate at the time of retirement.

The spokesman said that the candidate must have a character certificate saying that he was exemplary or outstanding till the time of retirement. He said that at the time of interview to be held at 10:00 am, interested candidates, should bring their original educational certificates including date of birth, qualification, experience, retirement certificate issued by military officers or Central Armed Police Force and other service related certificates  along with four passport size photographs.

He said that in view of the excess number of vacancies in most of the districts, two days i.e. July 12 and 15, 2020 have been fixed to conduct interviews at all places. He informed that the candidates recruited at District Jail Rewari and District Jail Karnal can also be posted for temporary duty at other nearby jails due to administrative requirement.
