SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB BIR THEFT CASE 2015: SEVEN DERA PREMI NABBED

Punjab Polit Special Investigative Team (SIT) reported to have been arrested seven Dera Premis of Sirsa Dera Sacha Sauda in 2015 theft case of Bir of Sri Gruru Granth Sahib on Saturday.

SIT team headed by DIG Jalandhar Range R.S.Khatra, arrested seven Dera Sirsa followers for theft of bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from Gurdwara Sahib in village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala in district Faridkot.

 The accused identified as Sukhjinder Singh, Neela, Ranjit, Bhola, Nishan, Baljit Singh and Narinder Sharma.

It may be recalled that Punjab Govt. led by S. Parkash Singh Badal had handed over said Bir theft case and other two cases to CBI. Amarinder Singh led Congress government had withdrawn probe from CBI and handed it over to Punjab Police. CBI had moved application before Punjab and Haryana High Court and later iin Apex Court against decision of Punjab government but the agency’s contentions were rejected by both courts.

It may also add that the same SIT led by Khatra had arrested 20 persons in 2018 including one Mohinderpal Bittu who ware murdered in Nabha jail in 2019. This case along with case of Bargari had rocked state in 2015. Apart from this case, another cases included putting up of a poster at village Bargari on September 25, 2015 and sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib as torn pages of the bir were recovered in front of Gurudwara Sahib in Bargari on October 12, 2015. This issue had become one of the major issue in 2017 Assembly elections.
