Dr. SP Obroy once again took initiative as he on his own expenses reached Chandigarh in a Chartered Plane carrying 177 youth stranded in UAE. Mr Oberoi earlier bear expenses of two chartered planes carrying stranded youth in UAE.

Dr. SP Singh Oberoi said that due to the Corona epidemic, thousands of Indians are stranded in Arab countries who are fishing for their homeland. He said the people trapped there belonged to four different categories and the highest number in the thousands were workers who had taken to the streets due to the closure of companies during the Corona epidemic. Too bad they are starving for two meals a day.

He said that he providing free accommodation and food to hundreds of unemployed workers at his own level but it was impossible to keep all of them there. He also said that although people registered to come to India from Dubai were being brought back by special planes but due to limited flights it was taking a long time due to which the condition of unemployed people there was deteriorating day by day.

A third chartered flight carrying 177 people has reached Chandigarh, including four from Jammu and Kashmir, 16 from Himachal Pradesh and the rest from Punjab. Dr Oberoi said some of the returnees paid for the tickets themselves, some paid 30 to 50 per cent but the majority were people whose tickets were paid for by the trust. The Corona Test for all visitors is funded by the Sarbatt Da Bhala Charitable Trust.

 

He said that in first phase, the first of the four special flights booked at his own expense, the first chartered flight which arrived at Chandigarh Airport from UAE Airport on July 7 carried 177 Punjabis.The second special Salem flight also took off from UAE airport carrying 174 stranded people from Punjab and Haryana and arrived at Sri Guru Ram Das Airport in Amritsar on the July 13th.

He also said that their main objective was to bring the unemployed and helpless people trapped in the area to their homes free of cost so that these youngsters do not stumble upon various suicides abroad or resort to compulsion in the world of crime. That is why instead of repatriating corpses from the Gulf countries or releasing them from prisons with blood money, they are trying to repatriate the living youth at their own expense. He also said that the Sarbatt Da Bhala Charitable Trust was in talks with the government to open 'Skill Development Centers' in every district to help these returnees from the Gulf countries to become self-employed so that they could already become skilled workers.

The States struggling with the shortage of labour should start skill centres so that you may stand on their own two feet and not to look forward to Abroad.

He also said that if required, the trust would arrange four more special flights next month at its own cost. The next of the four chartered aircraft booked by the Trust will return to Amritsar on July 30. People trapped there are registering at the trust's Dubai office. It is worth mentioning that Dr. S.P.
