KASHMIR VALLEY LOCKED, MARKETS CLOSED, ESSENTIAL SERVICES EXEMPTED

Vigil restrictions have been imposed in the Kashmir Valley on Monday and officials said restrictions have been put in place to prevent from Covid-19 from spreading.

The ban comes two days before the first anniversary of the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

Officials said there is a ban on any type of traffic except essential services and emergency medical services. Authorities reportedly sealed most roads and markets and appealed for public cooperation to make the lockdown a success.District magistrates have said that in view of the increase in cases of corona virus infection, strict lockdown has been ordered.

Markets and commercial establishments in the valley remained closed on Monday and public vehicles did not run on the roads, officials said.Restrictions on showing identity cards to government officials and bank personnel were exempted. A large number of security forces were deployed at various places in the valley.

On Sunday, 444 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in Jammu and Kashmir out of which 206 were from Jammu and 238 from Kashmir.
