PU GIRLS HOSTEL NUMBER 10 ORGANISED NEERJA BHANOT MEMORIAL DAY

A candle lighting ceremony was organised in the memory of Ms. Neerja Bhanot to mark the Commemoration Day at the Neerja Bhanot Hall, Girls Hostel Number 10, sector 25 Chandigarh on Saturday.

The hostel has been named after this young inspiring martyr. Presently, the hostel has been converted into the COVID hospital and is harbouring the COVID positive patients. Every year on this day, the staff and residents of the hostel, remember Ms. Neerja Bhanot, who laid her life heroically, saving lives of passengers on the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 from terrorists on Sept. 5, 1986.

Warden, Dr Archana Chauhan, hostel staff and the staff of Government Multispeciality Hospital Sector 16 Chandigarh on duty at the Neerja Bhanot Hall paid tributes to Ms. Neerja. Although a few residents wanted to be part of this memorial day event but were not allowed due to safety concerns. On the occasion, a two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the martyr. Candles were lit in the hostel compound. Govt guidelines for COVID-19 pandemic were followed during the event.
