PUBG GAME HAS BEEN “TEMPORARILY BLOCKED” MEITY SUSPENDS PROCEEDINGS ON COMPLAINT OF ADVOCATE ARORA

PUBG GAME HAS BEEN “TEMPORARILY BLOCKED” UNDER SECTION 69-A OF IT ACT, 2000: MEITY   informs advocate Arora: So, the proceedings on his complaint stand suspended

Advocate H.C.Arora has received an e-mail from Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITY) that “Players Unknown Battle Grounds-PUBG Game” has been temporarily blocked under Section 69-A of IT Act, 2000, and for that reason the administrative proceedings conducted by Meity in compliance of order dated 9.12.2019 in PIL filed by him, satnds suspended.

It may be stated that Section 69-A of IT Act, empowers the Government issue directions for blocking for public access of any information through any computer resource, in the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, security of State etc.

Complaint by advocate Arora was that PUBG is telling upon mental and physical health of children. It is affecting their studies. It is affecting their wholesome growth. It is inculcating cult of violence in the future generation. Children are getting addicted to PUBG, and when stopped from playing PUBG, some children committed suicide also. Some children recently misused the pass word of bank account of parents, and transferred huge amounts to PUBG owners for purchasing virtual weapons and vehicles for playing PUBG.

The Ministry had collected evidence from Arora, as well PUBG owners in support of their respective claims, but before Meity could take any decision, the public access to PUBG has been temporarily blocked by it (Meity).

Thus, with aforesaid e-mail message from MEITY   all questions raised by advocate Arora will remain open, says H.C.Arora Advocate.
