The efforts of Punjab Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar and Sriganganagar MP Nihal Chand brought big relief to the NEET candidates and their families. For their convenience the Railways administration on Sunday operated a special passenger train from Sriganganagar for Bathinda to facilitate them appearing in the NEET exam. Heavy security cover was provided in the train, sanitization was also done.

PPCC chief Jakhar had requested senior officials to sanction special trains for NEET students as limited bus service was available in morning hours and the candidates and their parents. Nihal Chand had put the demand for the train on August 31 in a virtual meeting before the General Manager of North Western Railway, Anand Prakash. After this, he contacted railway officials on the phone for this and got approval for the train.

The Special train (04705) left Sriganganagar at 7.30 am, had a brief halt at Abohar and reached Bathinda Junction by 9.45 am. Its stoppage was also allowed at Malout. The train was fully reserved. No passenger other than the candidates was allowed to travel without an appropriate reserved ticket. Reservation for this was started on Saturday. The train had a total of 12 coaches including 10 general coaches and 2 SLRs.
