HATHRAS RAPE AND MURDER: CBI REGISTERS A CASE AND TAKES UP THE INVESTIGATION

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today registered a case against an accused and taken over the investigation of the case, earlier registered vide CC no- 136/2020 at Police Station Chandpa, District- Hathras (Uttar Pradesh) on a complaint.

The complainant had alleged that on 14.09.2020, the accused tried to strangulate his sister in the Millet field. The case has been registered by CBI on the request of Uttar Pradesh Government and further Notification from Government of India. A team has been constituted. Investigation is continuing.

CBI on Sunday registered a case against main accused Sandeep under Sections 307, 376D, 302, Section 3 of SC / ST Act.  The Ghaziabad team of Lucknow unit will investigate the case. The CBI has demanded all documents from the police. On October 3, on the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath, Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi and DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi reached Hathras and met the victim's family. A CBI inquiry was then recommended.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court is scheduled to hear the case tomorrow. The High Court has summoned the DM and SP of Hathras along with the top officers of UP in the case by taking notice themselves. The victim's family has also been called.  

What is the whole matter?

On September 14, 4 people gangraped with a 19-year-old girl in Hathras. The accused broke the girl's backbone and also cut her tongue. The victim died on 29 September while undergoing treatment in Safdarganj Hospital in Delhi. All the four accused have been arrested. However, the police claim that the rape did not take place.
