FINAL OF FIRST INTER RANGE T-20 TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES : DELHI POLICE PCR TEAM DEFEAT TRAFFIC TEAM

The final of the 1st Inter-Range T-20 Tournament - 2020 was held at Sports Ground, New Police Lines, Delhi. It was won by PCR Team led by Sh. S. K. Sinha (IPS) DCP/ PCR defeating the Delhi Police Traffic Team led by Sh. Ajit Kumar Singla, IPS , Addl. CP/Traffic, Delhi. DAP-A Cricket Team remained 2nd Runner Up.

This tournament was held from 6th Oct 2020 to 24th Oct 2020 at Sports Ground, New Police Lines. Total 10 teams of different Ranges/Units namely DAP-“A”, DAP-“B”, R. P. Bhawan, New Delhi Range, Western Range, PCR Unit, Traffic Unit, Communication, PTC & Eastern Range consisting of approx. 150 players participated in this tournament. They were divided into 2 groups of 5 teams each. Total 23 matches including two semi-finals and final were held in this tournament.

Mr. Rakesh Bansal, IPS, DCP/2nd Bn cum Sports Officer, Delhi Police, said, the 1st Semi Final of this tournament was played between PCR Unit and DAP – “B” team which was won by PCR Unit. The 2nd Semi Final of this tournament was played between DAP-“A” team & Traffic Unit which was won by Traffic Unit.

Sh. Robin Hibu (IPS), Spl. CP/AP, P&I, P&L, Welfare, MD, DPHCL graced the Award Ceremony as Chief Guest while Sh. Vimal Anand Gupta (IPS), Jt. CP/AP, Delhi was the Guest of Honour. The captains of both the finalist Sh. S. K. Sinha (IPS) & Sh. Ajit Kumar Singla, IPS , Addl. CP/Traffic, Delhi were also present in the function. Sh Rakesh Bansal ,IPS, DCP 2nd Bn cum Sports Officer, Delhi Police also elaborated the achievements of Delhi Police Sports teams in the recent past.

This was a unique initiative to de-stress the jawans in the time of Covid-19. The brain behind this stress-buster initiative was of Sh Vimal Anand Gupta, Jt CP/AP. While conducting the tournament, all Covid-19 norms like social distancing, sanitization etc were adhered to strictly. The purpose of this tournament was to mitigate the stress level of jawans. Jawans are doing service in extreme adverse situations, keeping themselves as well as their families at risk. Such tournaments will not only reduce their stress level but also enhance their immunity level to fight the Covid -19.
