YOUTHS CALLED TO SHUN DRUGS, ADOPT SPORTS

Abohar's team, which performed brilliantly at the basketball tournament held yesterday inBhaina Bagha village in Mansa, was felicitated by Fazilka SSP Harjit Singh and ASP Shubham Aggarwal on Monday.The team from Abha Sports Club, led by Punjab Police coach Navdeep Sharma, won the runner-up title and was awarded a cheque of Rs 18,000. Team player Gurbaj Sandhu was adjudged Best Player.

Honoring the team, SSP Harjit Singh said that for good health and discipline, youth should participate in sports vigorously. If youth power stays away from drugs and takes a major part in sports, Punjab can be made happy. He said that youthsin Punjab, even today, were excited and confident that they can perform well in any sport. ASP Shubham Agarwal called upon the youth to stay away from all sorts of drugs and take part in the games.

Basketball coach Navdeep Sharma said that 48 teams from Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and UP took part in the tournament, in which Abohar's team performed brilliantly and received the runner-up award. Free coaching of basketball is given at the local GD Model School with the aim of taking the youth away from drugs and towards sports.
