A delegation of members of Haryana Vidhan Sabha led by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal met Punjab Governor and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore today and submitted a memorandum regarding a resolution passed unanimously by Haryana Vidhan Sabha to take the occupation of 20 rooms of Haryana Vidhan Sabha.

Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr. Gian Chand Gupta, Minister of Archeology and Museums, Mr. Anoop Dhanak, Leader of Opposition of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, MLA Mr. Raghuveer Singh Kadian, and MLA Mrs. Kiran Chaudhary were a part of the delegation, which met the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore.

In the memorandum submitted to the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Mr. VP Singh Badnore, it is stated that the 20 rooms of Vidhan Sabha Building that were allocated to Haryana are still illegally occupied by Punjab. There is not enough space for employees, meetings of various party leaders and ministers and committees of Haryana, he added. On the other hand, these 20 rooms have been illegally occupied by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

The memorandum also states that the Haryana Vidhan Sabha will raise voice strongly on any forum to take its share of the Vidhan Sabha building and the House also requested the Punjab Government or the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker that while respecting the demarcation of the Haryana and Punjab Vidhan Bhawan under the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966 on October 17, 1966, the 24,630 square feet of space which was allotted to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat in which 20 rooms have been illegally occupied by Punjab Vidhan Sabha should be vacated and handed over to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.

Talking to the media after the meeting, the Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Mr. VP Singh Badnore has assured that for the proper distribution of the Assembly he will consult the Chief Engineer of Chandigarh and a three-member committee will also be constituted to look into the matter. Apart from this, the Chief Minister said that Mr. Badnore has also assured that Haryana will get its share.
