In two corruption-related matters, the State Government, on the recommendations of State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Haryana has issued directions to register a criminal case against concerned Government Officers / Officials and Contractor and recover an amount of Rs 40,94,443.

official spokesman said that the first matter is related to the use of substandard material in the construction of road from Lahoria Chowk, Hisar to DCM Mill Gate, Hisar. He said that the State Vigilance Bureau has conducted inquiry in the matter and it was found that the contractor used sub - standard material in the construction of the road in connivance with the then Executive Engineer, Sub Divisional Engineer, and Junior Engineer of Haryana Agriculture Marketing Board and caused loss to the State exchequer to the tune of Rs. 32,13,000.

Now the Government has directed the authorities to recover the said amount from the contractor and register a criminal case under section 406, 409, 418, 467, 468, 471, 120B of Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act against the above-mentioned Government Officers / Officials and contractor, he added.

He further said that the 2nd matter is regarding the irregularities and financial losses to the state exchequer in various works conducted by the Municipal Corporation, Panchkula through various contractors.

The inquiry conducted by the State Vigilance Bureau revealed that losses to the tune of Rs. 8,81,443 were incurred by the Government in various works like covering of bridges in different sectors by iron sheets and frames, demolition of old Bus Queue Shelter, making of sheds for the vehicles and setting up the signboards under "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", he added. He said that taking cognizance of the report of the SVB, the State Government has directed the concerned department to recover the said amount from concerned contractors and initiate departmental action against one Executive Engineer, two Municipal Engineers, and three Junior Engineers.
