The Surinder Jakhar Memorial tournament is being organized from November 22 to December 22 at Nehru Stadium here to keep the youth away from drugs. As many as 64 teams will participate in the tournament. Which team will play the match with whom;convener Sandeep Jakhar selected it through a draw. T-shirts that are to be given to players were also launched on the occasion.

Sandeep Jakhar said that his father Late Surinder Jakhar, former chairman of IFFCO, wanted that the youth should get the right guidance. They should stay away from drugs and move towards sports. We are trying to fulfill and connect the youth with sports. For this, we are trying to develop sports stadiums in each village. A magnificent pitch has also been prepared in the stadium here for the tournament.

The winning team of the final match will be given prize money of Rs 75 thousand, while the runner up team will get Rs 51 thousand. Homoeopathic Medical College principal Dr. Rajinder Girdhar said on the occasion that there will be two matches daily. Apart from this, an amount of Rs 11000 will be given to Man of the Match.
