SURINDER JAKHAR MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT BEGINS

The Surinder Jakhar Memorial Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at Nehru Stadium here on Sunday. Teams from 50 municipal corporation wards are expected to participate in the tournament. 

District Youth Congress ex-president Sandeep Jakhar was introduced to the teams at the beginning. Winning the first toss, the Jain Nagar team decided to bowl. The first match was between the Jain Nagar team and Guru Ravidas XI. The second match took place between Bhagwan Valmiki Cricket Club and Rajiv Nagar XI Ward 27. 

 On the occasion, Akhil Bhartiya SC Yuvjan Samaj state president Gopichand Sander said that the dream project of IFFCO’s ex-chairman Surinder Jakhar was taken up by Punjab Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar. It is appreciable that Sandeep has started a ward level cricket tournament. This will give the youth a chance to progress in sports and they will stay away from drugs. The Jakhar family has always strived for the upliftment of Dalit society. For this, they remain the heartbeat of the youth even today. The future of Abohar is safe in their hands; Abohar will surely be seen moving forward in sports. 

Sander gave man of the match award to the winning team Guru Ravidas XI and also financial incentives to the second winning team Bhagwan Valmiki Cricket Club. Homoeopathic Medical College principal Dr Rajinder Girdhar, AFSO Vikas Batra, ex-councilors Dharamvir Malkat, Mani Ram Adani, Manminder Singh and Yadvinder Singh Matharu were also present.
