YCC XI-38 WINS SJ MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT

In the Surinder Jakhar Memorial cricket tournament that was being played for about one month at the Nehru Stadium here, the YCC XI-38 team won the trophy and cash prize of Rs 75,000 by defeating Gurunanak XI-40 in the final match.

As many as 64 teams had participated in the tournament that was organised by the SJ IFFCO Trust under its “Nashon se door, khelon ki aur” campaign aimed to keep youth away from addictions.

Chief organiser Sandeep Jakhar and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhijeet Kaplish were present to boost the morale of participants and gave prizes to the winners in a jam packed stadium.

The runner up team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and trophy. Abhishek was declared Man of the Series and awarded Rs 11,000 and trophy.

The trust had earlier organised fitness competitions, marathon races and volleyball tournaments to channelize youth power. An amazing fireworks display was also organized by the “Khel Premis” on the occasion
