Divulging details he informed that Compensation from 1 to 20 kms would henceforth be 1 to 2 times the market price. A notification in this respect has been issued by Department of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Punjab.

The multiplier factor is to be considered under the ibid Act for shorter/crow fly/radial distance of any of the Urban Area in the State to any part of the particular Killa or part thereof, as the case may be, of the land to be acquired from the limit of the urban area. It would be 1.0 times the market price for up to 5 km of a Municipal Corporation, 1.25 for up to 5 km of a Municipal Council/ Municipal Committees/ Nagar Panchayat (the closest urban body will be considered), 1.25 for distance from 5 km to 10 km, 1.50 for distance above 10 km upto 15 km and 1.75 for distance from above 15 km but up to 20 km and 2.0 times the market price for distance above 20 kms.

Pertinently, earlier the multiplier factor was 1.0 in case of affected area situated up to 10 km from the limits of an urban area and 1.25 in case the affected area was situated beyond the said distance.
