AMIT SHAH HONOURED CORONA WARRIORS AT DELHI POLICE HEADQUARTERS

Mr. Amit Shah,  Union Home Minister visited Delhi Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road and honoured the Corona warriors, today.  He also conferred ranks to police personnel who were given ‘Out of Turn Promotion’ for their exceptionally outstanding works.

Union Home Minister paid homage to brave Corona Warriors who lost their lives in the line of duty. He presented Commendation Rolls to police personnel viz. Ct Arun (Police Station Patparganj for work during Anand Vihar Migrant Labour situation), W/SI Sunita Maan (Police Station Maidan Garhi for women relief work), SI Yogendra (Police Post LNJP Hospital) & Ct Om Prakash (Police Station Amar Colony for Plasma donation) for their valuable contribution beyond the call of duty, during the pandemic period. He also put ranks on SI Krishan Kumar (Special Cell) & HC Balraj (AHTU, Crime Branch), who have been awarded Out of Turn Promotion for their brave and perseverant efforts while discharge of official duties in tracing missing children. 

Two short movies i.e. ‘2020 Ka Safar’, on how modern techniques have been integrated in routine police work for improving efficiency and productivity and ‘Vijaypath- Kahani Khakhi Yoddhaon Kee’, reflecting police works during pandemic period were shown.  Hon’ble Union Home Minister showed keen interest in the photo gallery depicting evolution of Delhi Police. He also visited Police Family Welfare Society (PFWS) exhibition and appreciated handicrafts by police families.

While welcoming the Chief Guest, Sh. SN Shrivastava, Commissioner of Police gave a brief on how Delhi Police turned challenges into opportunities in the year 2020 while serving the population of Delhi during the lockdown & unlock period. Whether it was feeding of needy, visiting the residences of senior citizens, transporting sick persons & pregnant ladies or ensuring smooth transportation of migrant labourers, the humane face of Delhi Police has been acclaimed across the society and earned epithet ‘Delhi Police – Dil Ki Police’.

The force has taken perceptible strides in the use of technology with intent to minimize personal interaction. Delhi Police worked a lot in the field of tech building and imbibed technology & Artificial Intelligence in its day-to-day working. The force activated many e-initiatives like e-Beat Book, Integrated Complaint Monitoring System (ICMS), Safe City Project, integration of CCTNS with ICJS & Office Automation, to name a few.

Setting up of separate Police Technological Cell and Social Media Cell has also proved to be a milestone in police working. The complaints of people through social media are being addressed effectively through Social Media. Special attention is being paid on physical & mental health being of police personnel and their families.  AYUSH Ministry has proved to be a guiding force in this direction. Besides, insurance claim structures have also been revised with Axis Bank to the benefit of policemen. 

Delhi Police has always endeavored to enhance its professionalism, efficiency and productivity. In this process, two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with National Forensic Science University (NFSU), Gujarat & IIIT, Delhi in the direction of making optimum use of technology & Artificial Intelligence (AI) in police working.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lauded Delhi Police for showing their humane face with grit and resolve during the challenging Corona period, which won the hearts of Delhi’s population. Home Minister praised the indomitable spirit of police personnel for serving people during pandemic, in spite of the fact that over 8000 of their colleagues got infected and 32 lost their lives.

He also acknowledged the tactful handling of law & order situation during riots, migration of labourers amid lockdown and present farmers’ protest and credited it to the force from top to bottom. The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the initiative of provision of Out of Turn Promotion to the personnel who traced missing children. He recollected the advice of Sardar Patel to sympathize with aggrieved without getting provoked in adverse situation and underlined that Delhi Police has risen to the occasion during the trying times. The altruistic work done by Delhi Police will go down as a Golden Chapter in Delhi Police history. He remarked that policing or maintaining law & order has always been the backbone of development of society. The nation will progress in every field if this organ is strong. Praises bring enthusiasm, but also infuse complacence. The Chief Guest cautioned not to get carried away and make sustained efforts to perform better. 

HM emphasized the importance of scientific & technical investigation to make watertight case against accused.  He acclaimed the MoUs signed with NFSU, Gujarat and IIIT, Delhi for integrating use of modern technology & AI in police working. He said conviction of one criminal acts as a deterrent for many others who may indulge in such activities. On the working of Safe City Project for Delhi, 15,000 cameras will be installed with integration of cameras at Railway Stations and those installed by Delhi Govt. The feeds of these cameras would be monitored at Police Headquarters. It is going to be a milestone in curbing the crime. 

The Union Government has sanctioned several financial packages for constructing residential colonies & purchasing built up flats for Delhi Police personnel. Housing Satisfaction Ratio will rise to 40% by the year 2022 from present 19.5%. 

Since the country is going to celebrate 75th Anniversary of independence in 2022, Hon’ble Minister called upon every policeman to set up at least 5 individual goals and make sincere efforts to fulfill them. Collectively, these goals will produce remarkable results and bring about notable transformation vis-à-vis public perception. 

A presentation on police working was also given. Hon’ble Home Minister appreciated the working of Delhi Police and stressed upon use of technology to the optimal level in order to make police working more transparent & people oriented. 

Sh. G. Kishan Reddy, MoS (Home), Sh. Ajay Bhalla, Union Home Secretary and Sh. Arvind Kumar, Director, IB graced the occasion with their presence.
