Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar today made a sensational revelation that the license for setting up liquor factory at Hiranwalivillage near Fazilka wasgiven by none other than the previous SAD BJP govt on August 28, 2015. He said that Excise Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal himself was present at the time of issuance of this license. Surprisingly, SAD and BJP activists were now backing the agitation against the project.

While interacting in the presence of Fazilka MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya and people of Hiranwali and surrounding villages, Jakhar said that once again the dual role of Akali Dal and BJP has been exposed. BJP was an equal partner in the said government while today BJP leader Surjit Kumar Jyani was sitting on dharna and making political drama.
People of the village had also met SAD chief Sukhbir Badal yesterday as he was the Member of Parliament from the constituency and Badal had reportedly promised to join the dharna tomorrow. On this Jakhar asked Badal to go to the village and tell the truth to the people and seek forgiveness for his sins for issuing license to set up such a factory in this area without the consent of the people.

Jakhar said that the said license was given to a friend of Akali Dal who has now reportedly sold the same to an industrialist for Rs. 13 crore. “I will also talk to the industrialist and persuade him not to set up such industry in the area. I challenge the Akali leadership to make public the names of those who were recommended and licensed to their loved ones. Gone which is further selling the license openly, he added.

He also lashed out at the party leaders saying that they had come to Hiranwali saying that they would take up the issue in the Assembly but in fact the issue had already been raised by Fazilka representative and Congress MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya.

The state Congress president said that the same people who had given license to the distillery here to tamper with the future of the people of Hiranwali and its environs are now pretending to be in the interest of the people but now people are well aware of their political maneuvers
