In the final match of the 10th SJIT Cricket Tournament organised under the “Nashon se door, khelon ki aur” campaign jointly by the Surinder Jakhar IFFCO Trust and Panjkosi Sports Society, the Panjkosi team won the match by defeating the team of Chak 5E (Sriganganagar) at the sports stadium in Panjkosi village near Abohar.

The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a trophy. The runner-up team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy. Man of the series, Chander Pal Saini was awarded Hero Motorcycle Award and trophy. As many as 68 teams participated in the tournament.

Prior to the final cricket match a tug of war competition was also held, in which Dalmirkhera team emerged victorious.

Convener Sandeep Jakhar said that different sports competitions were organised in the past ten years to encourage participation of youth in sports since this could be the best way to keep them away from addictions and other social evils.
