NATIONAL GATKA ASSOCIATION ORGANISES REFRESHER COURSE FOR REFEREES

National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) in association with International Sikh Martial Art Academy (ISMAA) conducted two days free Gatka Refresher Course for referees at Gurdwara Sahib in sector 53 in which 45 referees from Punjab and Haryana participated.

In his keynote address President of NGAI Harjeet Singh Grewal State Awardee briefed the referees about the successful organization of training camps, management and operation of Gatka tournaments. He informed about the programs and activities for the development and promotion of Gatka under the "Vision Document-2030" in comprehensive manner. Gatka promoter Grewal announced that in the coming months one week Gatka clinic would also be organized for the chief referees selected from this refresher course which various subject experts would share their views.

Sharing views on behalf of the participants, Gurpreet Singh Raja from Amritsar said that he had been taking part in training camps and refresher courses conducted by the Gatka Association since 2008 and such camps and courses provided valuable information to the players and referees.

He further added that such camps provide an opportunity to get updates on Gatka rules and other information pertaining to tournament. All the participating referees took part in the practicals on digital scoreboard at Gatka ground on both days and expressed happiness over the organization of this camp. They demanded that the duration of such training courses should be fixed for one week.

All the referees were presented certificates by the National Gatka Association of India on the occasion.

Among other present on the occasion were included Harpreet Singh Sarao, Secretary of District Gatka Association, Mohali, Prabhjot Singh Jalandhar, Joint Secretary of ISMAA, Finance Secretary Baljit Singh Saini, Secretary Harjinder Kumar and Mukhtiar Singh Patiala.
