HIMACHAL CM EXPRESSES SERIOUS CONCERN OF RAPID DURGE IN COVID CASES, URGES WORKERS TO SUPPORT PEOPLE

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that rapid surge in the Covid cases in the State was a matter of serious concern and all the party functionaries and workers must give their wholehearted support help the people of the State in this hour of distress and also motivate the people to check spread of this virus.

Chief Minister was addressing the virtual meeting of the State BJP office bearers, District BJP Presidents, District BJP In-charges, Presidents of different Morcha, Convener of State IT Cell etc. from here today.

Jai Ram Thakur said that due to the stigma and fear associated with this disease, it has come to notice that at times the family members of the deceased face difficulty in performing the last rites of the Covid patients. He said that the State Government has directed the Deputy Commissioners of the State to ensure that the last rites of the persons, who have died due to the Covid-19 were performed strictly as per the protocol and guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in this regard so that the family members of deceased do not face any inconvenience.

Chief Minister said that in the urban areas, the concerned Municipal Commissioners, Executive Officers/Secretaries of the urban local bodies would be the overall nodal officers and in rural areas BDOs have been designated as the nodal officers in their respective areas for this purpose. He said that adequate PPE kits, dead body bags, disinfectants, sanitizers, waste disposable bags etc would be provided to the hospitals and PHCs, so that the same could be made available to the people for performing the last rites as per the protocol. He also urged the party functionaries to ensure proper coordination with the local administration and health department, besides proper liaison with the family of the deceased so that the last rites could be performed as per the protocol and guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He urged the workers to contact the family members of the deceased so that they could get a moral support in this hour of distress.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that since about 90 per cent of the total active Covid cases in the State were in home isolation, therefore the party workers must ensure that the family with a patient in home isolation gets all possible help. He said that the party workers must keep in touch with the family members and also help them in case they require some help. He said that the party workers must also ensure that people coming from other states get themselves tested or remain in home quarantine. He said that the people of the State must be provided face masks, food packs and hand sanitizers etc.

He said that bed capacity has been increased in the state from 1500 to about 3000 and would be soon increased to 5000. He said that the State Government has enhanced the storage capacity of oxygen by 25MT. He said that as many as 21.25 lakh doses of vaccine have been administered till date.

Chief Minister said that the BJP workers must also provide food to the attendants of the Covid patients in hospitals. He said that the second wave of the virus was more fatal and thus require more precautions.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the people must be motivated to go for vaccination and also to adopt SoPs issued by the State Government from time to time. He said that people must also be motivated to strictly adhere to the limit of guests in social functions such as marriages etc fixed by the State Government. He said that this would help in containing spread of the virus in a big way.

Member of Parliament and President State BJP Suresh Kashyap said that all the party workers must come forward to help the people in need and also provide them face masks, food and other requirements. He also urged the party workers to help those in home isolation. Organisation Secretary Pawan Rana also spoke on the occasion.
