CHANDIGARH ROWING ASSOCIATION MOURNS THE SAD DEMISE OF NIRMAL MILKHA SINGH

Chandigarh's first Joint director sports, who became Director sports in 1988 till 1993, former Volley  Ball Captain and wife of legand Mr. MilkHa Singh, Mrs Nirmal Milkha Singh passed away  after a valiant battle against covid. During her tenure, Chd sports department  laid the foundation stone of Sector 42 Sports Complex , Sector 7  sector 46 sports complexes were built during her tenure.

She took keen interest  in promoting sports. Under her supervision, the Chandigarh rowing Association hosted its First All India invitational Rowing Championship, and hosted National Games of 1985 and three Asian Rowing Championships.

She was closely associated with Chandigarh Rowing Association and took keen interest in development of Rowing and Rowing infrastructure at Sukhna Lake. The city still enjoys the infrastructure built under her guidance and support. President and Executive body of Chandigarh Rowing Association exprees deep shock and send heartfelt condolences to her FAMILY.

Honarary secretary  Advocate Rajiv Sharma  fondly remembers working under her as a Rowing coach in sports department and remembers how she was taking keen interest and deeply involved in developing Rowing in Chandigarh. She uses to visit Lake club quite often to check the progress  of water sports activities at Sukhna Lake.

TC Gupta IAS Life President of CRA said its a big loss to sports fraternity. Widely known for her multiple achievements in the sports and her extensive philanthropic works, she will be fondly remembered for her accomplishment on and off the field. 

President of CRA Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu  said I am deeply saddened to learn about the news of sudden demise of Madam which is extremly shocking and unfortunate. May Wahe Guru Ji give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss. Major DP Singh Senior Vice President and  Surinder Chaudhary Treasurer CRA too expressed shock and said she was known as a iron Lady of UT sports department. President and executive Body of CRA wish a speedy recovery of  legendary Mr Milkha Singh ji.
