SUPER SUNDAY: P V SINDHU BECOMES THE FIRST INDIAN WOMAN TO WIN MEDALS IN TWO OLYMPIC GAMES, HOCKEY TEAM IN SEMI FINAL

P.V. Sindhu wins Bronze medal in Tokyo Olympis. She becomes the first Indian woman to win medals in two olympics games.

Meanwhile Indian men's hockey team reached semifinals of the Olympics Games after 49 years. Even though India's last of the eight Olympic gold medals came way back in the 1980 Moscow Games, there were no semifinals in that edition as only six teams participated in the event. 

President of India in his tweet said, P V Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman to win medals in two Olympic games. She has set a new yardstick of consistency, dedication and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to her for bringing glory to India.

Sunny Deol, MP, in his tweet said, Proud of you. First Indian womanto win #Olympics Medal Twice...!! Making India and Indians proud. 

Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia , said, What an incredible performance!!Congratulations on winning the Bronze Medal, You have made India proud, yet again.

Akshay Sharma , State President of Punjab NSUI , while congratulating in his tweet said, Thanks to Pvsindhu  and The Hockey India team for their gritty on field display. You all are the nation's proud.   

Meanwhile Indian men's hockey team reached semifinals of the Olympics Games after 49 years. Even though India's last of the eight Olympic gold medals came way back in the 1980 Moscow Games, there were no semifinals in that edition as only six teams participated in the event. 

The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh congratulated the National Men's Hockey team for making it to the Semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics.   

All the three goals were scored by Punjab players in today's match and we have high hopes from our players.   Rana Sodhi also wished the Indian hockey team for the match against Belgium scheduled for August 3. He said that the Indian hockey team, which had already beaten Belgium, would emerge victorious.Pertinently, Rana Sodhi recently announced that each player of Punjab in the Indian hockey team participating in the Tokyo Olympics, would be individually awarded with Rs.2.25 crore for winning a team gold. 

 

Earlier, the Chief Minister tweeted, "Stellar performance by the Indian Men’s Hockey team at #TokyoOlympics to beat Great Britain by 3-1 & entering Olympic top 4 after 41 years. Happy to note that all 3 goals were scored by Punjab players Dilpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh & Hardik Singh. Congratulations…go for Gold!". Notably, the last time Indian team reached the last four stage was way back in 1980 Moscow Olympic Games when it eventually went on to win the coveted Gold Medal. 

Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, on Sunday, congratulated Indian hockey team for reaching semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics, saying that we are inching closer to win a gold medal.   

In his two tweets after the hockey team's victory on Great Britain, Rana Sodhi said, "An outstanding display of skill on field by Hockey TeamIndia in Tokyo2020 Olympics. Indian men's hockey team in semis, first time since 1980. Inching closer to Olympic Gold. 11 players from Punjab and we are proud of your achievement." 

In a second tweet, he wrote, "Indian men's #hockey team in #Olympic top 4. We are proud of you #GoForGold." 

He said that all the three goals were scored by Punjab players in today's match and we have high hopes from our players.
