HIMACHAL CLOSED ALL SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS FROM TODAY TILL AUGUST 22

THE CABINET ALSO DECIDED TO MAKE THE NEGATIVERT-PCR TEST REPORT NOT OLDER THAN 72 HOURS OR A VACCINE CERTIFICATE MANDATORY FOR ALL TOURISTS. THE STATE IS WITNESSING A HUGE INFLUX OF PILGRIMS TO PAY OBEISANCE AT THE SHRINES, ESPECIALLY IN KANGRA, UNA AND BILASPUR DISTRICTS.

The Himachal Government decided to close again all schools and educational institutions from today to August 22, due to growing cases of Covid in the state. However, teaching and non-teaching staff shall attend the school. The education department shall frame SOPs for the residential schools to contain COVID-19.

This was decided in a Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

The government had earlier allowed all schools,including residential institutions, to open from August 2.As a precautionary measure, the Cabinet also decided to cap occupancy in all inter-state buses to 50 per cent. “We are concerned at the surge in Covid cases and so we have decided to impose stricter restrictions,” said Jai RamThakur.

Earlier the government had issued an advisory to the tourists entering the state to follow the above guidelines which have been made mandatory now."Inter-state, Inter-district and Intra-district Movement of Public transport buses are now allowed to operate with 50 per cent of the registered seating capacity with effect from August 13, 2021.

The Cabinet also decided to make the negativeRT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours or a vaccine certificate mandatory for all tourists. The state is witnessing a huge influx of pilgrims to pay obeisance at the shrines, especially in Kangra, Una and Bilaspur districts.

For the inter-State public transport buses, Transport Department shall frame a mechanism for checking of RTPCR/RAT/ Vaccine certificate, so that only eligible passengers will board the buses," stated the release given by the Himachal Pradesh government.
