In the finals of the JP Atray Memorial cricket tournament for Trident Cup, HPCA beat Ranstar Cricket Club Delhi by 75 runs. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) today registered a title win and defeated Ranstar Cricket Club Delhi by 75 runs in the final match played at IS Bindra stadium. Winner HPCA got the Trident Cup winner trophy and the award of two lakhs In the 26th JP Atray Memorial cricket tournament for Trident Cup,

Earlier in the day due to rain, the match was decided to be played only for 20 overs instead of 50 overs. Batting first, HPCA scored 175 for 3 wickets in their 20 overs, in response to which Ranstar Club were bundled all out for just 100 runs in 15.2 overs. The winning team got the TRIDENT CUP winners trophy and a prize money of two lakhs and was felicitated by Punjab Minister OP Soni. The runner up team got the Trident Cup runners up trophy and a prize money of one lakh. Former Punjab DGP Chandra Shekhar, PCA Treasurer RP Singla, Convenor Vivek Atray and Organizing Secretary Capt. Sushil Kapoor were present on the occasion.

In the final match, Ranstar Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bowl first. HPCA started to bat cautiously and the openers held both ends. Shubham Negi and Captain Prashant Chopra added a vital 84 runs for the first wicket. HPCA got the first blow in the form of Shubham Negi and he returned after scoring 35 runs in 36 balls. After his departure, Prashant Chopra did not let the pace of the runs slow down and added 40 runs with Ekant Sen. Sen could only score 20 runs off 15 balls and became the victim of Rahul Chaudhary.

In the final match, Ranstar Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bowl first. HPCA started to bat cautiously and the openers held both ends. Shubham Negi and Captain Prashant Chopra added a vital 84 runs for the first wicket. HPCA got the first blow in the form of Shubham Negi and he returned after scoring 35 runs in 36 balls. Prashant also could not handle for long and he was by Pradeep Malik on Pradeep Parashar's ball. Prashant scored 72 runs in 48 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes. In the last minute, Nitin Sharma scored an unbeaten 33 off 18 balls to take the team's score to 175 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. For Ranstar Club, Rahul Chaudhary took 2 while Pradeep Parashar took 1 wicket.

Chasing the target, Ranstar Cricket Club could not get off to a good start and the HPCA gave them two blows in the very first over. The team's top order failed completely and the same batsman scored runs in the middle order as well. Only two batsmen of the team could cross the double figure. Pradeep Malik scored 26 runs in 11 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes while Sumeet Verma added 36 runs in 28 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes. The entire team of Ranstar Cricket Club was reduced to 100 runs in 15.2 overs. For HPCA, Naveen Kanwar took 3/15 in 3 overs while Ayush Jamwal took 3/28 in 3.2 overs. Vipin Sharma took two while Akash Vashisht took one wicket.
