Retired Indian Administrative Officer, Haryana Sh. Sameer Pal Srow, has been appointed as the Chairman of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority of Haryana. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India has issued a notification in this regard. He has assumed his charge this afternoon.
It may be noted that Sh. Sameer Pal Srow, a 2002 batch IAS officer, had retired from the post of Director, Haryana Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, about two years ago.
Although Sh. Srow has also successfully served as the Deputy Commissioner in many districts of the state, his work as the Director of Information, Public Relations and Languages Department is well remembered. The Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages is considered as an important department in the State Government, because the responsibility of propagating the policies of the State Government rests on the shoulders of this Department.
This department is under the Chief Minister, in such a situation, the Director / Director General of the department has direct contact with the Chief Minister and discussions are held for organizing most of the big events and programmes. Sh. Srow had joined this department as Director on July 4, 2016. After that, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal liked his working style so much that he entrusted the responsibility of this department to Sh. Srow till the officer’s retirement. Sh. Srow has been counted among the officers close to and trusted by the Chief Minister.
Talking about the programmes that were entrusted to the Department, under the Directorship of Sh. Sameer Pal Srow, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department was made the nodal department for the 550th Prakash Parv festival of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in the year 2019. This grand festival organized in Haryana was appreciated all over the country.
Along with this, the programme of 350th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh was organized at the national level in Patna. At that time the Haryana Government had sent two trains full of devotees there. The Chief Minister had entrusted this big task to Sh. Srow. Under the able guidance of Sh. Srow, while he was the director of the Department, where on one hand the world saw the excellent performance and publicity of International Crafts Mela in Surajkund, on the other the while the popularity of International Gita Festival of Kurukshetra was heard till Malaysia.
Haryana Film Policy was formulated on October 27, 2018 under the supervision of Sh. Sameer Pal Srow, which has been discussed till Bollywood in Mumbai.
Now the Union Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has appointed Sh. Sameer Pal Srow as the Chairman of 'State Environment Impact Assessment Authority', this is being considered as an effective step of the state government towards improving the environment in the state. Environmental clearance for various types of government and private projects is given by this authority.
Earlier this work was done at the central level, but later the central government gave powers to the states for this. In such a situation, giving Sh. Srow a big role as the Chairman of the 'State Environment Impact Assessment Authority' on the occasion of 'World Car-Free Day' speaks volumes about the trust that the central and state government have in him.
