RoundGlass Punjab Football Club successfully completed its first round of Selection Trials for the U10-U15 age groups (8-14 years), shortlisting 59 young players for Round 2. The trials were held between August 31 and September 4 at five of the Club’s Development Centers in Punjab at Behbal Chak (Gurdaspur), Jaito Sarja (Batala), Pandori Ran Singh (Tarn Taran), Bhode Saprai (Jalandhar), and Jangpur Ground (Ludhiana).

The trials were conducted smoothly despite the COVID-19 situation; children from across Punjab put up an encouraging show with as many as 1,152 players turning up across the centers. The children participated in multiple drills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, speed tests, etc, under the supervision of RoundGlass Punjab FC coaches and scouts, who shortlisted them based on their technical ability and skills.

The 59 players shortlisted for the second round will be joined by 11 players who live near the centers and were invited by local coaches. The second round of the trials is already underway and being conducted from September 20 to October 3 across our Development and Grassroots Centers. The children will be required to undergo various technical drills to assess key skills such as passing, shooting, dribbling, tactical awareness, and positioning, under the watchful eyes of RoundGlass Punjab FC coaches. At the end of the trials, the best players will be selected for the third and final round, to be held in November in Mohali.

Commenting on the successful completion of the first round, Director of Football, RoundGlass Punjab FC, Nikolas Topoliatis, said, “The first round of Selection Trials were a tremendous success. The children went through the drills and activities with energy, enthusiasm, and gave some high-quality performances. I am confident many of these kids have the talent to play at a higher level. RoundGlass Punjab Football Club is always on the lookout for fresh talent in football — and wants to give kids the opportunity to play. Scouting and training programs like these are the perfect platform for us to do both. With a goal of giving more kids the chance to play and explore their potential, we plan to expand our scouting programme in the coming years across the country.”
