CHANDIGARH POLICE SHAHEED MEMORIAL TROPHY-2021, TRIBUTES TO MARTYERS

Chandigarh Police in collaboration with Chandigarh Football Association organized the ‘Chandigarh Police Shaheed Memorial Trophy-2021’ from 25-10-2021 to 29-10-2021 at Football Ground, Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh in the memory of “martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the performance of their official duties” was concluded today by Chandigarh police.

The tournament was organized to pay tribute to the Police Martyrs and as well as to create awareness among the youth about the sports and health hygiene. Over 22 teams which are registered with CFA are participating in this tournament including the 4 teams consisting the youth from less privileged / slums areas/ resettlement colonies of Chandigarh in this tournament. Matches were played at the two venues i.e. Football Ground, Police Line, Sector 26, Chandigarh and grounds of Sports complex, Sector 46, Chandigarh. Total 22 matches were played in which knock out matches, semi-final matches and final match.

The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Sh. Praveen Ranjan, IPS, DGP/UT, Chandigarh while the function was attended by Sh. Ombir Singh, DIG UT, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, SSP/Hqr, Sh. Vikash Kochar, Sr. Vice President of HDFC bank, Mr. D.D. Sharma, Marketing Head of Star Impact, Chandigarh, Mr. K.P. Singh, President of Chandigarh Football Association, Mr. Vikas Sharma, Senior Vice-President, Mr. Bhupinder, Vice-President, Mr. Rakesh Bakshi, General Secretary from Chandigarh Football Association and Sardar harjinder Singh, Ex. Captain of Indian football player and Sanjiv Kumar, Ex. Indian football player were also present during the occasion.

Final match was played between Liberty Football club and Lee professor football Club at Football Ground, Police Line, Sector 26, Chandigarh in the presence of Chief Guest and senior officials, member of Chandigarh Football Association, which was won by Liberty Football Club.

Sh. Praveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP/UT boosted the morale of all the players participated in the football tournament and presented the trophy to winner team. Family members of martyer honoured by chief gust by presenting them shawls. The guard of honour also given to Sardar Hajinder Singh, Ex. Captain of Indian football player, Sanjiv Kumar, Ex. Indian football player and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, International football player.
The tournament is a part of the constant endeavor of Chandigarh Police to motivate the youth and children about sports activities particularly focusing prevention of substance abuse among them.
