NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK CONCLUDED IN ARYANS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

To acknowledge the invaluable contributions pharmacists and technicians make to patient care in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and other healthcare settings, Aryans College of Pharmacy, Rajpura near Chandigarh organized series of webinar & competitions on “National Pharmacy Week” during the third week of November i.e. 15 Nov to 21 Nov 2021. Various activities including Poster Presentation, Debate Competition, Quiz Competition, Paper Presentation, Rangoli Competition and Declamation were conducted on the occasion.

Pharma expert including Dr. Mayank Mittal, National Consultant, Central TB, Dr. Sushma Singh, Faculty, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) Mohali, Mr. Rajesh K. Chopra, Plant Head, Pharmaceutical & Vaccine Plant Panacea Biotec, Dr. Puneet Kapoor, Assistant Director, Head Development Consulting and Scientific Affairs, Pharmalex India Pvt Limited, Dr. Jagmahender Sehrawat, Professor, Pharmaceutical Anthropology, Dept. of Anthropology, Panjab University, Dr. Anurag Kuhad, Faculty, Pharmacology, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Rita Behl, Founder, Ayurveda Avataran (Ayurveda Nutrition Academy) interacted B. Pharma & with D. Pharma students of Aryans College of Pharmacy & Aryans Pharmacy College. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.

Mittal while interacting said that the main objective of celebration of this week is to acknowledge and thank all the pharmacists and pharmacy sectors who are working tirelessly during the time of great uncertainty and challenges. Further Singh added that the society has definitely recognized the services rendered by pharmacists and the importance of pharmacy services during the pandemic situation and continues to do so hereafter.

Chopra mentioned that “Pharmacy Week” is an opportunity to raise awareness about the vital role pharmacists play on the healthcare team. Kapoor added that this year COVID-19 has shown the value of the pharmacists and the pharma-profession adds to healthcare settings. COVID-19 has shown the great potential of the pharmacy profession to contribute to public health and to the nation itself.

Sehrawat said that it’s time to acknowledge the importance of pharmacists in the society as ‘if no pharmacists, then no medicines’; ‘and if no medicines, then no Swasth Bharat’. Kuhad suggest that growth of pharmacy is significantly increasing in India in the last few decades. It is one of the strongest economies in the world today.

Behl by citing various examples, apprised how the counseling provided by the pharmacists can improve the effectiveness of medication. She advised the pharmacists to inculcate human ethics and values; and also to develop proper communication skills for counseling the patients effectively. Dr. K K Singla, Principal, Aryans Pharmacy College was the moderator of the event.
