SATISH DHINGRA HAS BECOME THE 433RD EYE

Senior Journalist of Fazilka, General Secretary of the local Press Council, Secretary of Chamber of Commerce and veteran social worker Satish Dhingra (65) passed away at 6 am on Thursday after a brief illness.

He was an Executive Member of the Shivpuri Management Committee, former President of the Pesticide Association and an active associate of the Social Welfare Society.

His wife Chand Kumari, Lecturer, Government Senior Secondary School expressed the family’s desire to donate eyes. Dr. Manohar Lal Sukhija contacted Shashi Kant, President of Social Welfare Society. Dhingra's eyes were donated and cornea was immediately sent to Punarjot Eye Bank Society, Ludhiana for transplant.

Society spokesman Rakesh Gilhotra said that Satish Dhingra has become the 433rd eye donor of the society. This was the second eye donation made by the society in Fazilka after a long hiatus in the last 10 days. Members of the society paid homage to the eye donor at the funeral of Dhingra by presenting sheets and garlands. 

District scribes and Lekhak Parishad president Raj Sadosh have expressed shock and grief over the demise of Satish Dhingra and prayed to the almighty for peace to the departed colleague.
