ARMY’S 800-KM CYCLING EXPEDITION FLAGGED IN

Abohar.: A 12-member cycling expedition from Kelnor Border out post undertaken by the 24 Mechanised Infantry (20 Rajput) was flagged in by Brigadier Rohit Teotia, Commander, Kavach Brigade of Chetak Corps at Prerna Sthal (War Memorial), Lalgarh Jattan Military Station near Sriganganagar.

The 800-km expedition was organised as part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations, to commemorate Victory of India over Pakistan in the 1971 War. The expedition was flagged off from Kelnor Border Out Post on November 27. Enroute the team interacted with Veterans, Veer Naris and paid homage to brave hearts who made supreme sacrifice during 1971 Indo-Pak War.

The team also interacted with school children & motivated them to join the Indian Army. Tree plantation was also carried out by the expedition team enroute with an objective to create awareness ‘Save Our Planet’.

The expedition successfully conveyed the message of gallantry displayed by the Indian Army in the 1971 War. Besides fostering the spirit of adventure, the cyclists also spread awareness about COVID-19. Active participation of veterans and local population from all spheres of society helped the expedition achieve its goal.
