VESTED INTERESTS CAN'T SUPPRESS MY VOICE AGAINST VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS : DHESI

Member Parliament from UK Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi on Thursday termed the political statements against him appeared in a section of media as ridiculous, unfounded, totally untrue and defamatory and this hullabaloo was created by handful individuals having vested interests whereas majority of populace in the world much too wise to fall for such lies and misinformation.

In a statement released here Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi said “Such individuals have learnt nothing from the Indian farmers protest, when they tried to portray farmers and anyone who stood with them as anti-India terrorists and separatists. They have been busy trying to malign the likes of me for the past year by using similar tactics, because I dared to speak up for the human rights of farmers".

Dhesi  emphasized that he have regularly spoken up for human rights of the marginalised around the world: including the Hindus and Christians of Sri Lanka, the Kashmiris, Palestinians, the Muslims of Myanmar and beyond. Dhesi underlined that "As a Sikh, that is what we are taught to do from a young age - stand up for yourself and the rights of others, working for the betterment of all".

Heavily castigating the rumour-mills gossiping about his past UK MP Dhesi categorically said "As I addressed in the House of Commons, the two rupees a tweet by Twitter troll factory and the fake accounts will not be able to silence those of us who feel strongly about speaking up for truth and justice".

He emphasized that he have regularly spoken up for human rights of the marginalised around the world: including the Hindus and Christians of Sri Lanka, the Kashmiris, Palestinians, the Muslims of Myanmar and beyond. Dhesi underlined that "As a Sikh, that is what we are taught to do from a young age - stand up for yourself and the rights of others, working for the betterment of all".

He elucidated that the ridiculous and political statements reported in the media from the last year, including that I had made an anti-India speech at a '2020 rally' in London, are defamatory and unsubstantiated, adding he said that he had not attended any such rally. "There are some in Pakistan who had tried to portray me as being pro-India, while some hardliners in India are busy trying to say I am anti-India. I think the good people in both India and Pakistan are much too wise to fall for such lies and misinformation,” Dhesi said.
