ACCUSED EXTORTED MONEY FROM VICTIMS BY IMPERSONATING AS CRIME BRANCH AND YOUTUBE OFFICIALS AFTER SECRETLY SCREEN RECORDING OF OBSCENE ACTS OF VICTIMS AND THEN THREATENING THEM TO UPLOAD ON INTERNET.ONE ACCUSED NAMELY ASIB ARRESTED FROM NAGAR, DISTRICT BHARATPUR RAJASTHAN AFTER COMPLAINT OF SEXTORTION RECEIVED IN POLICE STATION CYBER NORTH DISTRICT, GANG MEMBERS CREATED FAKE FACEBOOK PROFILE OF GIRLS AND CONTACTED VICTIMS ON WHATSAPP AFTER EXCHANGING MOBILE NUMBERS ON FACEBOOK MESSENGER.,ICTIMS WOULD BE HONEY-TRAPPED THROUGH WHATSAPP VIDEO CALLS IN WHICH A PRE-RECORDED VIDEO OF GIRL INDULGED IN OBSCENE ACT WAS PLAYED ON ANOTHER PHONE BY ACCUSED. THIS VIDEO WOULD APPEAR ON MOBILE SCREEN OF VICTIM. ACCUSED WOULD RECORD THE OBSCENE VIDEO OF THE VICTIM FROM SCREEN RECORDER OF HIS MOBILE PHONE.THROUGH THIS RECORDED VIDEO, ACCUSED WOULD EXTORT MONEY FROM VICTIMS BY IMPERSONATING AS CRIME BRANCH AND YOUTUBE LEGAL OFFICIALS AND EXTORT MONEY ON THE PRETEXT OF POLICE COMPLAINT AND DELETING VIDEO FROM YOUTUBE.3 MOBILE PHONES & 9 SIM CARDS USED IN OFFENCE RECOVERED FROM THE POSSESSION OF THE ACCUSED. TWO BANK ACCOUNTS USED FOR TRANSACTION ALSO RECOVERED AND FREEZED. 

Continuing the drive against Cyber criminals indulged in duping and extorting gullible citizens, a dedicated team of police station Cyber North comprising SI Rohit Saraswat, SI Guman Singh, SI Ranjit Singh, SI Raju, HC Mahesh Patil, HC Arjun, Ct Akash, Ct Ravinder and Ct Vipin under the supervision of Insp. Pawan Tomar SHO/Cyber North and guidance of Shri Swagat Rajkumar Patil, ACP Operation/North, arrested one member of Sextortion Gang extorting money from innocent citizens by creating fake Facebook Profile of girls through screen recording of video calls on WhatsApp.

INCIDENT: Some complaints regarding extortion by fake Crime Branch officials and Youtube legal officials on the pretext of lodging police complaints regarding obscene videos of victims and uploading of same on Youtube were received on MHA Cyber Crime Portal. Subsequently a case vide FIR U/s 384 IPC PS Cyber North District was registered on the complaint of Sh…… (Name withheld) and investigation was carried out.

OPERATION: A dedicated team of Police Station Cyber North conducted extensive money trails and mounted technical surveillance/analysis of the mobile phone numbers linked to various mobile wallets.

The investigation revelaed that accused were operating from a Village Mudiya, Tehsil Nagar, District Bharatpur (Rajasthan). On the basis of technical surveillance coupled with intelligence developed in the area, hideout of accused persons was located and raid was conducted.

 Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, DCP, North District,  said, during interrogation accused Asib revealed that Modus Operandi most youths of his village would create fake Facebook Profile of girls and contact victims on WhatsApp after exchanging mobile numbers on Facebook Messenger. The victims would receive WhatsApp Video Calls in which a pre-recorded video of woman indulged in obscene act would be played on another phone and this Video would appear on mobile screen of victims. 

During raid one person namely Asib Khan R/o Munidya PS & Tehsil Nagar District Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Age 26 Years was apprehended from the spot and his mobile phone was checked. It was revealed that he was operating fake bank account through internet banking. Further analysis of bank statements disclosed that Rs. 26 lakh were credited and then instantly debited from this account within one month.

Thereafter, sincere efforts were made to contact the remitters and it was found that one person (Name withheld) r/o Sarai Rohilla Delhi was being extorted. Immediately, a separate case vide FIR dtd 13/05/2022 u/s 384 IPC PS Cyber North District was registered and during investigation of this case, aforesaid accused was arrested.

INTERROGATION:   Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, DCP, North District,  said, during interrogation accused Asib revealed that Modus Operandi most youths of his village would create fake Facebook Profile of girls and contact victims on WhatsApp after exchanging mobile numbers on Facebook Messenger. The victims would receive WhatsApp Video Calls in which a pre-recorded video of woman indulged in obscene act would be played on another phone and this Video would appear on mobile screen of victims.

The accused caller would then screen-record the Video of the victim indulged in obscene acts. Thereafter accused would contact the victims, impersonating as Crime Branch and Youtube officials in order to extort money on the pretext of lodging police complaint and removing videos from Youtube. The accused would use chain of fake bank accounts for transaction of money before final withdrawal from various ATMs from Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Mewat, Gurugram, Palwal (Haryana) and Mathura (Uttar Pradesh).

RECOVERY:  3 Mobile phones, 9 Sim Card and  2 Bank Accounts

Further investigation of the case is in progress. Efforts are being made to trace other victims extorted by the accused.
