Five Kgs of high-grade heroin worth more than Rs. 20 crores in the international market have been recovered from possession of arrested Rajesh Gupta. One mobile handset and two SIM cards used in the drug trafficking activities have also been recovered from him
Special Cell in its continuous crusade against drug suppliers had busted many narcotic drug cartels in the past by arresting several drug suppliers and by recovering huge consignments of high-grade heroin.Sleuths of Special Cell of Northern Range were working on information that an Interstate narcotic drug cartel is active in states of Manipur, UP, Delhi etc. Members of this cartel are involved in supply of high-grade heroin in Delhi, NCR, UP, after procuring the same from suppliers from bordering areas.
This information was further developed through technical as well as human surveillance. It took about 3/4 months painstaking efforts to develop information. During this process, members of this cartel were identified and their activities were kept under discreet surveillance.
Operation
On 09/05/2022 team led by Insp. Vivekandnand Pathak and Insp Kuldeep Singh received a specific information about one key memberof drug cartel namely Rajesh Gupta resident of Kushinagar, UP who indulged in drug trafficking and engaged in supplying heroin on the directions of Shivam and Pankaj both resident of Bareilly, UP after procuring it from one Limanthang resident of Manipur. It was informed that he would come near Gandhi Market, DDU Marg, Delhi between 1:30 PM to 02:30 PM to supply heroin to a resident of Trans Yamuna, Delhi. Accordingly, a raiding party was constituted and sharp vigil was maintained at the spot.
Rajesh Gupta was apprehended near Gandhi Market, DDU Marg, Delhi about 02:25 PM on 09/05/2022. On checking five kgs of fine quality heroin was recovered from the arrested Rajesh Gupta. A case vide FIR No. 106/2022 dated 09/05/2022 u/s 21/61/85 NDPS Act was registered at PS Special Cell.
Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, IPS, DCP Special Cell, said, arrested Rajesh Gupta was thoroughly interrogated. Accused person disclosed that he was part of an interstate narcotic syndicate. Rajesh Gupta disclosed that he is indulged in drug trafficking activities since last 05-06 years. He worked as Sepoy in Army but was court martialed, dismissed and he was also jailed in a financial scam. In the jail he came in contact with a person who lured him to work with him in drug trafficking.

He used to transport heroin after taking delivery from one Limanthang resident of Manipur. Accused Rajesh Gupta further disclosed that after procuring heroin from Limanthanghe further supplies the same to his local associates including.
Rajesh Gupta is a permanent resident of Kushinagar, UP. He got education upto 10th Class. He joined army in the year 1994 as Sepoy (GD). He worked 12 years in army. In the year 2006, in a financial scam he was court martialed and dismissed by Indian Army and was put in civil jail in Kohima. In the jail he came in contact in person namely Sushil who lured him to work with him in drug trafficking. Thereafter, he started supply heroin after procuring it from drug suppliers of Manipur.Further investigation is in progress.
