TERROR LINKS TO JS MULTANI WERE FOUND BASED ON TECHNICAL ANALYSIS.

ONE CALL WAS MADE INTERNATIONAL CALL TO GERMANY WHICH ON CHECKING WAS FOUND IN THE NAME OF J.S. MULTANI, WHO HAS EARLIER BEEN SUSPECT IN TERRORIST ACTIVITIES.LIVE IED WAS RECOVERED NEAR BURAIL JAIL CHANDIGARH POLICE AND BLAST WAS PREVENTED.

During the course of investigation, dump data of the scene of crime was lifted and CCTV’s near the spots were analyzed was called. During analysis several suspicious numbers were short listed. On further analysis, one mobile was found suspicious was found switched off, since the time of incident. The said number has made one international call to Germany which on checking was found in the name of J.S. Multani.  Multani has earlier been suspect in terrorist activities.

The Combing of the area was done thoroughly to find out any further evidence. The success was obtained on 28.04.2022, when B.D.S team during thorough search, recovered one Redmi Black Colour Mobile handset and one more detonator. On checking mobile phone, link with of J. Singh Multani was again confirmed. After this section U/s 13, 18 & 20 of UAPA 1967 were added. All the recovered material has been deposited to CFSL for examination and further investigation in the case is being carried out.

It may be recalled that in View of recent alerts received from security agencies, Chandigarh Police has increased surveillance and patrolling under command of senior formation on 23.04.2022, teams of Operations Cell and District Crime cell prevented a big incident by recovering a live IED from near the back side wall of Burail jail.

In the light of several inputs being received from various agencies, the team of Operations Cell, anti terrorist wing of Chandigarh Police was put on high alert by senior officers and asked to conduct searches and checking at Vital Installations. On 23.04.2022, the team of Operations Cell, under the supervision of Sh. Jasbir Singh DSP/Operations and Inspector Amanjot Singh I/C Operations alongwith QRTs of Operations Cell, was conducting security Checks at various Vital Installations including Elante Mall, ISBT, Sector-17 & 43.

After alertness being issued, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Chahal, SSP/UT immediately rushed to the spot and directed to call B.D.S. team and immediately asked the area to be cordoned off to prevent any eventuality. The Traffic was diverted through different routes. The B.D.S team of western command of Indian army rushed to the spot and Chandigarh Police and B.D.T, I.A. confirmed the presence of explosive in the tiffin after examining the same. Thereafter, a case FIR No. 33 dated 24.04.2022. U/S 3,4 Explosive Substance Act 1908, was registered at PS, Sector-49, Chandigarh.

When during this process team reached near the back side of Burail Jail, they got alarmed by seeing fire and smoke adjacent to the back wall of Burail Jail. The team immediately stopped and rushed to spot.
They got alert on noticing the tiffin, detonator and burning Codex wire. Insp. Narinder Patial of Distt Crime squad also reached at the spot. The team present at the spot shows presence of mind and courage in immediately controlling the fire which could have caused massive IED Blast and saved valuable human lifes.

The IED was covered by bomb disposal box & sand bag and NSG team was called from Manesar for safe defusal. On 24.04.2022 a team of NSG visited the spot and disposed off the bomb safely. From the spot a black bagpack was also found in which one detonator wrapped in one Urdu Pakistani newspaper, a small polypack containing nails and some printouts with “Khalistan Action Force“ written on them were also recovered.
