INDIA BAG U-17 BOYS TROPHY IN ASIAN WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

BISHKEY (KYRGYZSTAN): With a haul of four gold, two silver and two bronze medals India annexed the boys U-17 trophy in the U17 and U23 Asian Wrestling Championships here.

Ningappa Genannavar (45 kg), Shubham Hari Achapale (48 kg), Vaibhav Narayan Patil (55 kg) and Parvinder Singh (80 kg) will return home with gold medals.

The Indian wrestlers logged 188 points to top the medal tally while Kazakhstan finished runners-up with 150 points. Uzbekistan remained content with the third position by securing 145 points.
It may be recalled that yesterday India had won the girls U-17 trophy. Indian girls won eight gold, one silver and one bronze medals and topped the medal tally with 235 points.

India claimed the gold medal in the freestyle 45 kg class as Ningappa Genannavar defeated Amirmohammad Saleh Navazi of Iran by VPO1 10 - 7 in the final on Wednesday.

In the next category (48 kg) Shubham Hari Achapale earned gold for India as he beat Leo Akagi of Japan by VPO, 2 - 0.

Vaibhav Narayan Patil defeated Daryn Askerbek of Kazakhstan by VPO1, 5 - 3 in the 55 kg final to win third gold for India.

The fourth gold medalist for India was Parvinder Singh who defeated Askhab Khajiyev of Kazakhstan by DSQ, 5 - 0 in the 80 kg final. Japanese Shingo Ando denied Narender of India by recording a VPO1, 4 - 2 verdict in the 71 kg final. India earned their second silver medal after Mohammadreza Ali Reza Lotfi of Iran defeated Pratik Shankar Deshmukh by VSU, 11 - 0 in the 110 kg final.
Narsingh Rangrao Patil outclassed Dowoon Kim of Korea by VSU, 11 - 0 for the bronze medal in the 51 kg category.

Sourabh got second bronze medal as he defeated Sajad Gholamhassan Pirdayeh of Iraan by VFA, 2 - 0 in the 60 kg class.

In the U-17 boys Greco-Roman competitions India finished fifth with 121 points and Kyrgyzstan emerged winners with 182 points. Iran were runners with 174 points.
